The question of insurance for Motorsport is not far away. https://www.autospor...otorsport-in-eu I know it's been covered before, but its still in the background.

Why don't they just leave things alone. We'll be needing insurance to be allowed to get out of bed soon.

Lols at it involving the police though.

I can just imagine them going through Go Pro footage showing you a foot behind your rival, doing a ton down the back straight in their slipstream, you dive down the inside under braking and make the pass.  They attempt to go back around on the next corner, you shut the door but they overcook it and take you out.

Mr Police officer, can you tell us who was at fault in this crash??

On the events I partake in you have to have take an extra third party insurance anyway, premium is around the £20 per event so I guess it would be of a similar thing

Since the UK is no longer in the EU isn't the point mute at this time?

No it's not. The UK are transferring all EU laws onto the statute and will only repeal, replace or remove them when they are successfully challenged in the UK Supreme Court.

This judgement, known as the 'Vnuk Judgement' will impact on a lot of activities in addition to motor-sport.
My other sport is gliding and all our airfield vehicles will be potentially in-scope. But they will be uninsurable too.
IMHO this will not happen as the judgement was never intended to go this far.
Google 'Vnuk judgement' for more details.

Apparently it stems from someone getting injured by a farm vehicle take was uninsured as it was not used on the public road, so potentially ALL vehicles will have to be insured, bikes the lot. So I will have to insure my 5 year old when he wants to scooter to school? I don't personally think this will go anywhere...

Don't you believe it, once EU bureaucracy gets hold of something it'll take a lot to stop it. They're not concerned with commercial viability.

If it gets to the point where every circuit owner in Europe announces impending closure, the F1 teams announce that all manufacturing and testing will be in the USA (I guess) and every motor-sport related company closing down in Europe someone is going to take urgent notice.
