Quick one again... 1.5:1 alloy tip roller rockers AND Kent fast road cam kit. Good combo? Or does one eradicate the use of the other?

Sorry for long link but that's the cam I'm on about. Our one similar for a 1098 engine.

There are people on this forum with very in depth knowledge of building Mini power, but as far as I understood if you are doing a cam upgrade you need the correct cam plus springs plus the correct ratio of rockers, usually not too high for the mini engine, and more power will come from porting than just changing the rocker ratio in addition to that your final drive ratio will have a much greater effect on performance than any changes made to the rockers.

Is the head properly gas-flowed and with 35.6 mm inlet valves?
What is the comp ratio to be?

Couldn't tell you. It's an engine I've picked up that works but needs reboring. Just thought while I've got it stripped for that i could upgrade some parts when putting it back together.

It's a standard 1098 engine. No modifications to it at all, just a rebuild. The guy I bought it off didnt think it needed reboring but the piston rings haven't settled in right. Standard cam, comp. ratio, head, etc

Unless you have the head fully gas-flowed and the C.R. set to around 10:1 there is little point in changing the cam or fitting higher lift rockers.
An improved head is the key to a beter engine.

Think I'll get the head polished, ported and gas-flowed

Porting/gas flowing is a different name for the same thing. Avoid any company which offers to polish the inlet ports .
