When driving for between 30minutes to an 1hour (getting the car hot) the car wont start again until it is completely cold - usually overnight. It will start first time from cold.

Has been like this for a few months, driving rarely, not stopping. But yesterday after ~10kms at 100kmph I lost power ... fuel light came on (had just left the petrol station so it was full) guessing the fault triggered the ecu to stop sending the fuel pump the message to pump.

When it does not start;
Can hear the starter turn (just been reconditioned)
No immobiliser (Japanese model)
Inertia switch in normal position
Checked voltage at fuel pump, inertia switch and fuel relay - no power there
Where to check the ecu?
Or possibly the heat of the engine (block) is affecting a sensor - crank? When it doesnt start I cant hear the fuel pump - Im guessing the fuel lines are still primed as the car and pump have been going but the ecu is not getting the message from the faulty crank sensor and so wont tell the pump to go?

Also noticed the red vacuum hose from the back of the throttle body is not connected to the air box ... broken end in need of replacing all probably. Where is the best place to source a vacuum hoses?

Last step before I find a specialist mini guy ... in NZ

Thanks

Similar case happened to me, changed the crank sensor, back to normal.

If the crank sensor is acting up, the RPM readings should be erratic or not existing while cranking.

The fuel pump won't run until the ECU registers that the engine is turning. That means testing for voltage at the relay, the inertia switch and the fuel pump will not return any voltage reading.

The Fuel pump will start for a second or so every time you turn the key to IGN. If it does, then it is perhaps the crank sensor, as they do sometimes get affected by the heat.

Thank you all for the help, I was going down that line of thought. Now to source a sensor ...
