So, I'm rebuilding two trailing arms.  Have new pivot pins with new bearings, reamed bushes & grease tubes.  So far so good.  Add the backing plates & cable guides.  Go on to assemble the first brake components - new shoes, new springs, new adjuster & wedges.

Problem arises...NEW adjuster will NOT thread through the backing plate & the square head is too big for 5/16" brake wrench.  (wedges fit fine)

More junk from the 'martians'?

Any ideas out there??

Is there any paint or crud in the thread of the backplate? If so use a tap to clean up. Correct size is 5/8" UNEF. If it won't then screw in easily by hand then you know the probelm is with the adjuster. 5/16" is correct for the square head though. Where did you source the parts?

Backing plate is fine...old undamaged adjuster threads through easily dry.

Will get measurements shortly & post.

There are some I was supplied a little while back, boxed (I'll check the brand) and I had similar troubles.
