Just keep it under 3500kg and don't take the p*** with the tow car.

Even if on paper you are legal if your setup looks sketchy you may find yourself getting pulled over. My dad had this when using my sister's punto to tow something. After loosing two hours and having the trailer plus car weighed we were allowed to continue on our way.

I've looked at this loads recently as I want to be able to tow the mini on a trailer. I am also due to swap my car, I've come up with an ovtavia Vrs estate being best suited.

Maximum weight of Octavia is 1970kg leaving 1530kg for maximum tailed weight, loads of car transporter trailers within this weigt even twin axle ones, a mini in a trailer will prob weigh less than 1000kgs so plenty allowance left for spare wheels etc.

As I understand the law you can drive a vehicle with gross weight of 3.5t AND tow a 750 trailer unbraked so total train weight of 4250kg

If you have a braked trailer you have to be under 3.5t for the train weight based upon the plates and not the actual load
