Morning All!

Yesterday i changed my air filter to a replacement K&N (same filter type inside the original casing), on my 2000 Cooper Sport.

I have a few questions;

  • Should there be a gasket between the plastic housing and the carb?
  • Should there be any notable difference in idle speed, pick up, etc?

Car seems to be slightly less stable at tick over, and pick up seems slightly boggy when i pull away.

Look forward to hearing your knowledge!

cheers!

There should be a rubber gasket between the air box and the throttle body, black rubber-band thingy...
Idle and other should not be affected, it should breath better and maybe be a bit throatier.

Thanks for the reply Ben, any idea on part number as this seems to be missing or perished beyond recognition!

Ben, are you talking about the rubber O ring on the throttle body itself that the lower half of the box fits over? As there's no gasket on the standard MPi.

Ahhhh... Awkward moment...
So it is, got them muddled up.
My apologies! Keep switching from one to another.
