I've just read through your blog - that's an epic build! Worth anyone contemplating restoring a Jag reading to see the complexity and sheer amount of work involved as a deterrent! Keep it up. It will probably make you weep that about 10 years ago I bought a good 3.8 engine and auto gearbox for £150! Sold the gearbox for £50 and the engine for @ £750.

What really makes me weep is that I gave a 4.2 engine (short stud) to the scrap man about 15 years ago as it was siezed from standing, now I could have rebuilt it and added massivly to the cars value.  The later 4.2's with the long studs can be troublesome.

There isn't anything complicated about a MK2 Jag its just that there is a lot of it and everything is heavy, for example I can just about lift the bare engine block on my own but walking with it is difficult.  I managed to do this with the 3.8 one a few years back and lifting the 2.4 one now I don't know how I managed it as the 2.4 block is a few inches shorter in height.

Yes the engine is bloody heavy, but what a thing of beauty!

Just a few updated pictures of how it stands now, had to put one picture per post as it wouldn't let me add two (kept giving an error message).

The car is now on the road, it drives well with the power steering conversions and although its only the 2.4 its fast enough for what it is, I wouldn't want to drive around in one of these like my hair was on fire these days!

Its the same as the other one I have, its like driving down the road in an armchair in stately home!

It looks a bit different to how it started!

Its taken 5 years and cost just under 12K including buying it, this fits in with my Econojag theme.  I don't think I could do it again for less.
