Hi everyone,

I’ve just gotten a Cooper S LE, 1998, super pleased!

It’s in really good condition but as with most of them will need the odd bits and pieces looking at. Firstly I’d like to lower the steering column as it seems to obstruct the clocks quite a bit and isn’t the most comfortable driving position, I’ve seen some kits so hopefully that’s simple enough.

I’m resisting the urge to ‘soup it up’ with some more bhp , since it goes really well already and I have enough projects draining my bank balance as it is (all 2 wheeled), so for now I’ll be leaving it as it is and enjoying it. Watch this space, I’ll probably do the complete opposite of what I have just said in 6months time...

Anyways, I’ll be lurking around the forums for help and advice soon no doubt, cheers.

Bex :)

In the meantime here we are on our maiden voyage home:

Very nice and a rare limited edition. Only 100 were made for the UK market to commemorate 30 years since 1968, when the original Mini Cooper S was particularly successful for British Vita Racing Team. The 'V' logo over the front wheel arch stands for Vita.

This is actually called a Mini Cooper Sports LE. It's not an S unless it had a John Cooper conversion.

Apparently 92 of the original 100 are known to survive, which is pretty good for a 19 year old car.

I wouldn't change it too much. On a car like this it will only devalue it. Invisible clocks and an uncomfortable driving position are all part of a Mini's charm. Just enjoy it as it is.

Yes you're quite right :) I should have said 'sports' instead of 'S'

My posts don't seem to be showing up for quite some time, how long is it until they automatically show up rather than needing moderator approval?
