Does anyone have any suggestions on replacement bulkhead foam in the engine bay? I was thinking on going down the neoprene foam route and cutting it to fit. I’m not too bothered about sound proofing, just something that looks original.

I read that bulkhead foam can trap water and rot the metal, I just used grommets for any of the holes and left it like that

What I'm on about id the back faced yellow foam as fitted to the bulkhead during the 80's, like so.
I ripped mine out years ago, but would like to refit something when I come to tidy up the engine bay and get it looking original. I have seen there is a horse hair backed bullhead pad available, but it's not really correct. And minisport do sell the pre cut bulkhead foam, but only for the later mpi's.

This is the stuff I've been looking at... https://www.ebay.co....m-/252376923683
Chopping it in half and sticking it to itself, so its 12mm thick and I don't quite like the idea of sticking it to the bulkhead permanently.

That’s all I could find in a suitable size, I’d prefer if it didn’t have the adhesive backing. And with it being closed cell there shouldn’t be too much of an issue with it holding water.

Rimmer brothers do the original stuff too.

They only cater for minis after 1990. So the bullhead insulation in which they sell (can’t find it) would be wrong for mine with cut outs for a servo/heater pipes through the bulkhead.

Do you know if it has an adhesive backing?

No I don't sorry. Apparently it is rather stiff and rigid to work with, but really good stuff.

No, they says in the tutorial you need glue...
Thanks, I never saw the tutorial tab.
