That take off pipe is standard equipment on Carbed coopers and the MG Metro which has the same engine.

 

Its an anti run off valve as the factory couldn't stop them running on due to the excess ignition advance required to keep the emissions down at idle.

Do you not use a spot welder?

 

Also what is the take off on servo pipe? Ive not seen that before!

MOT this afternoon. Just the badges and final couple of little jobs left to do.
