Hi guys,

I am a very young inexperienced 1996 Mini Mayfair owner, I have began a restoration and am slowly making my way through it (mostly trail and error and lots of research in-between).

My aim is a non-original restoration with nice body and 'improved' engine.

Currently I am undertaking the body work half of this but am beginning to think about what I want from the rest of the car.

Obviously, money is an obstacle but I don't want to cut corners with this because the car has sentimental value.

My question(s) are as follows:

What are the main maintenance checks and changes you would do to an engine/brakes/steering etc etc....?

What can be done easily to enhance the performance without ruining the car?

What bigger changes can I make if I decide to really step up the performance of the engine? (eg. some people have suggested twin carbs, not sure if this is a good idea)

Thanks

Haven't got a specific budget. Probably around £1500 - 2000 for most of the project but not too worried about going over.

I haven't got a fixed budget but around about £1500-2000. Not too bothered if I go over this.
