My 1275 a× fully rebuilt and after a few issues runs great but cannot get the clutch to fully disengage so will not go into gear. All new clutch, pressure plate, trust bearing and all linkages Inc slave cylinder. Got the 6.5 mm travel end stop nuts not stopping etc.
Completely out of ideas and talent please any pointers and courses

You say fully rebuilt, what did you set the primary gear end float at?

To be honest no idea that part was a while ago. I will need to revisit me thinks. Excuse my ignorance Why would it stop the disengaging?

If there isn't enough clearance on the end float or,if you've fitted a new one and it's not machined correctly as it get hot it will expand and stick on the crank leaving the primary gears in constant mesh even though the clutch is disengaged.

That has happened to a lot of people due to the change of primary gear bush material some time ago. The latest after-market bushes need to be machined with a bit more radial clearance to prevent the primary gear from 'seizing' onto the crankshaft.

as Tom Jones would say, "It's not unusual"  ;D .

Thanks for your help.
apart it comes again, this car hates me I'm sure. It only took four attempts to sort the duplex cover sorted.

You don't need to take it apart to check it. Once you're convinced it's not a hydraulic issue with a liitle work you can check it in situ. Remove the wok and take the flywheel off. Check the primary gear spins freely and then check the end float. You're looking for between 3 and 6 thou clearance.

So after checking end float ando running again clutch still not disengaging. So out came the engine. Stripped cleaned polished an repeat. Rebuilt swore at it and it's all good now. Thanks for your assistance.
Only brakes seat belts and get indicator working she will be ready

So what was the fault when you took it apart?

If I'm completely honest I don't know. It could have been the primary gear assembly was not as clean as it should have been. I took the bits apart and cleaned it all until shiny rebuilt it with out the oil seal. Checked it for feel and end float once I was happy fitted seal. My son then put it all back while I fitted the steering rack then we put the engine back together and hay presto it worked.
Probably throw it together too quickly the first time. It's been twenty years between this engine and my last rebuild

Removed clutch again and just because I ran out of ideas I put the old clutch plate and trust plate in and it works. The plunger is out a lot more peddle feels better and it works
