Hoping someone can help here. It wasn't until the MPi did the Mini get and anti-dazzle interior rear view mirror. I find that so hard to believe as it drives me crazy while driving at night. Wondering if anyone has found a mirror that would fit on the original mounting and include this feature. I'm not interested in gluing one to the window like on the MPi. Was hoping another Rover, MG, Austin, etc would have a similar sized pivot cup that could be swapped onto the Minis mounting arm.

I wonder if there is some kind of anti dazzle film that you can stick on the mirror? its really dark here in Sweden now and i noticed it the other day, would be a nice thing to have.

....It wasn't until the MPi did the Mini get an anti-dazzle interior rear view mirror....

I was very confused reading this. The only noticeable difference between a MPI & SPI mirror is how they attach to the car.

A lot of minis were fitted with dipping rear view mirrors from mid 1977!

Later ones might be slightly different as 1993 on Rover brochures describe them as having an anti-dazzle coating (they still retain the dipping switch)

Would the later mirror fit on the same swivel cup ? That is use the existing stalk part but pressed into the back of the later mirror?

Given it's hardly the most stylish of parts why not try to retrofit an auto-dimming unit?  You'd not have issues with dazzling again.

Readily available from most scrap yards as they have been fitted to many normal cars for quite along time.

For example, this one can be found in a Peugeot 307

The auto dimmer is an idea I thought about but I really wanted to try and stick with genuine parts from the incredibly large parts bin that these cars were built from.

I might just go ahead and buy that stick in mirror and if the cup is not the same, just run it. Not that I have measured but I'd imagine that the Mini uses a much smaller mirror then most cars. I actually find it gets in the way a bit so I would really not like to go any larger.
