Putting aside my belief that Sadiq Khan is as naive and foolish as they come, I recently discovered that my 96 Rover SPI (JDM Import) is exempt from the ULEZ and T Charge charge, after entering my registration number into the TFL compliance tool.

This came as a surprise to me, as I had believed driving the Mini would to be something I would have to pay for given the age of the vehicle. Anyone else exempt?

one of mine is exempt - 89 mayfair ...

Thank you for using the T-Charge checker. Your vehicle is not subject to the T-Charge.

Your vehicle meets at least the Euro 4 / IV standard (Euro 3 if you are a motorised tricycle or quadricycle).

The classification of your vehicle may change if Transport for London receives information regarding its emissions that shows it does not comply with the T- Charge emissions standards.

Please remember you may still be subject to the central London Congestion Charge. You can pay the Congestion Charge here

Your vehicle may also be affected by the tighter emissions standards of the forthcoming Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) which may come into effect from as early as 2019, subject to consultation.

I just checked and my 1980 Mini 1275 GT is not exempt the website states:-

Thank you for using the T-Charge checker. Your vehicle is subject to the T-Charge if you travel in the central London Congestion Charge zone Monday to Friday between 7am to 6pm, you will be charged £10 a day. This will be in addition to the Congestion Charge.

Isn't the charge only applicable on week days? If so then you'll be fine for L2B

Do classic cars or motorbikes have to pay the T-Charge?
No. If your vehicle is 40 years old or more, with an historic tax class, then you won’t have to pay the T-Charge to drive in central London. Motorbikes and mopeds are exempt from the T-Charge, no matter what their age.
Check your reg no. for T charge here:-

As I said to my Black Cab driver when in London a few weeks go - "one day someone in London is going to sneeze at the wrong moment and the whole place will turn into a traffic jam that will take days to clear". He agreed.

My 1995 Mayfair isn't exempt but unlikely to ever go there.

I bet the database hasn't been finished yet -

that is why some older ones are exempt at the moment

26 million cars on the uk roads a few years ago .

will take a while to squeeze all of us

but squeeze us they will

It would appear that model year is not a factor. I don't expect TFL to change a vehicles status once a vehicle owner is told they are exempt. I wonder why some vehicle owners cars are not exempt?
