HI

While I have my mini in bits I'm thinking of fitting a front rad.
I'd like to keep the intercooler where it is. But reckon that if I move the oil cooler else where I could fit a mpi rad in its place. Obviously I'll have to adust the front panel but should be able to do that and still get the grille on.

My question is, what mpi rad is best these days? Genuine one from minispares or one of these from ebay....

I'm running a water cooled gt17 turbo and a electric pump. The engine is also dry decked. I'm hoping to be able to run decent amount of boost so need a decent rad.

Thanks
Josh

I personally would risk something off Ebay that has probably been made in China, Chap I work with bought a new rad off Ebay for his motorbike, only lasted about 10 months. He took it to a rad repairers and they said the core was rubbish and were surprised it had lasted so long!, the good news was the top and bottom expansion tanks weren't made to badly. He ended up having one made to measure in the UK. I trust Mini Spares quality and they are usually very honest with product listings.

I got an eBay MPi one, decent and was better than the standard version on cooling. Was a tad gutted when I had to convert to a side mount.

How do you find it Steve? Is it better than a standard mpi?

Josh

Had a Chinese alloy one in mine for over 5 years and no problems, the quality may not be 100% but it was the same price as an oem rad so it was a no brainer! Its an increased size too

I'm not sure I'll get it to fit where my oil cooler is now. I might go for a alloy side mount.. we shall see.

This might not still be the case but I ordered a genuine one from minispares. What arrived was a very poorly finished (rust under the flaking paint) aftermarket copy. Minispares happily accepted the return but couldnt provide the genuine part. In the end I bought a genuine mpi radiator from mini sport. It has worked well. Like I said this might have just been a mistake a year ago but just ask the question before purchasing.
