Hi there,

I am in the process of rebuilding my 1340 and I don't know the correct place for my oil pressure switch. Can anyone tell me? Also, what goes in the whole round the back of the engine located just up from the fuel pump attachment. As this is where I had it placed last time.

Thanks for any replies!

Regards Alfie.

Oil pressure switch is screwed into block near the oil pipe to oil filter. Left front as you look at the engine in car.

No idea what yours was measuring!

Bottom left corner of this pale blue engine: can you see darker blue anodised t-piece connecting to block? One side is pressure switch, the other hose to mechanical oil pressure gauge.

Thanks alot that picture helps!

What about the other side of the engine block though? There's the part where the fuel pump gets attached to but what about the other?

Thanks ms Alfie.

if you can take a pic of the hole , I'm wondering if you have got a drain tap hole

(nearest the clutch side at the back half way up the block ?

sometimes the bolt is taken out on a rebuild & not replaced - the hole is usually blocked with rust & or paint

no-one notices anything until the engine gets nice & hot after a run , then coolant pi$$es out -

usually at the most inconvenient time

I have been asked to do a head gasket in the past when this has happened - luckily I spotted it by chance before stripping

this is a midget engine - but the drain is in the same place , next to flywheel

I've just fitted an oil pressure gauge to my 1275 MPi mini. I'd read advice that the oil pressure switch was on the left side of the oil filter but no. I removed that and it was the oil temperature sensor. I removed the right hand side fitting and it was the oil pressure switch.

I think LEFT and RIGHT designations are quite confusing sometimes, especially when people have LHD and RHD.

The oil pressure switch, at least on mine was on the alternator side the oil temperature sender was on the clutch side.

nope not confusing just some people do not know the which side of the car is which. and also stating what block you have can make a difference.

MPi is to the car left of filler other Minis are to the car right of the filter

or as we look at the picture it is to the right of the filter on the MPI block
