Just Google for "sheet steel Manchester". You will find at least one company who will supply in small quantities. I know because I just checked, but you will learn more by doing it yourself so I am not telling you who.

Also see if anybody you know has scrap stuff lying about - dexion shelves, sides of appliances, old panels - they all make useful items that save cutting into a longer new sheet.

If you not got one yet consider buying a hand operated sheet metal guillotine - you can mount them in a workmate and they make slicing up sheet simple and quick - from about £25 secondhand.

There seem to be white van men scrounging scrap pretty much everywhere. See if you can get one to put suitable stuff aside for you. I'm still chopping my way through some office lockers -

Just a few pop rivet holes to fill.

The town I live in used to have a massive steel works, employing thousands that shut in the 70s, might have been handy. There is a small sheet steel fabrication place I used to deliver to but I hated going there haha
