Anybody know the hub/castle nut size on a 1989 mini?

Front or rear? They are in any case special and you need the proper Mini parts from a reputable supplier, not a general purpose castle nut, and will therefore be supplied with the correct thread. One of the rears has a left hand thread.

 

From memory the rears are 5/8" UNF. I hesitate to say what the fronts are as there have been numerous instances of them not fitting because the manufacturer of the CV joints had changed the thread, probably to metric.

34mm or 1-5/16

As Steve has said, 34mm or 1"5/16th
