How old is the clutch flex hose?

About 4 years old, its a braided one. But it is on my list of things to test 1st by opening the bleed nipple and getting the wife to try and depress the pedal. If it goes down nice and easy then I can rule the master and flexi out as the issue, if not then I'll crack the union off and try again to isolate the master.

Due to a lack of power in my garage, only got a few mins on it after work. With the bleed nipple open, the pedal goes to the floor easily, so the master and flexi are off the hook.

With the nipple tight, the pedal goes down further, but is heavy still and I can't get it down to the carpet.

Plus with the stop wound in, if I try and push the armback to it, it springs back. So have unbolted the slave and now I get the slack I'd expect and could readjust the stop. It has ended up back to where it was before I wound it in, so that suggests to me that everything inside the wok is where it was before the problems started.

So this is leading me towards the slave dying, which is partly reinforced as there is some black residue on the shaft which wasn't there when we dropped the engine back in.

Realised that I never reported back on the solution in the end (always a pain if your searching and find a thread that doesn't have the full story).

So we ended up dragging it back to my mates so we could investigate further, turned out that the crank bolt had worked lose and it was sitting against the release bearing. Not ideal.

Thanks for reporting back; time sure flies. That is one for the books, crank bolt winding out - oh dear, it wasn't torqued down correctly and the lock washer not folded :mmkay:

At least it didn't turn out to be serious and costly, just a time waster :proud:

It was torqued to the hanyes manual figures and the lack washer bent over, but something wasn’t happy clearly

How could it have turned out if the slotted key washer was in place?

This may have happened before.

About 10 years ago, I agreed to help someone replace a slipping clutch on the Min they had just bought for their daughter.

The bolt had been welded to the crank key.
