Current Mini Sport Pattern Wings. Not Good.

Last week my pattern wing arrived from mini sport. I have to say the quality was really poor.
Around the headlight hole wasn't properly pressed or attached. Two small dents near the indicator hole and absolutely no way the curve was ever going to match up at the windscreen scuttle.
I rang them and they were very helpful. I ordered a heritage panel (which they are sending carriage free) and they are going to refund the price of the pattern one.
I know the pattern ones are half the price but the quality just wasn't good enough. It wasn't a Magnum panel. Anyone else had similar?

I have had a couple of quality issues but to be fair they were more than happy to do what ever was necessary to put things right including 6, yes six heritage wings as they were terrible around the head light aperture and none of them followed the bonnet curve. Thats the poor quality control of BMH that`s initially to blame.
If you have a late model mini the heritage panels fit well as the formers wore out along the way at the same rate, the problem is when trying to fit the wings to a 60`s car.
If you can find a 60`s to early 80`s car with the original wings and them compare them to an MPI with original wings the difference is night and day.
i had to slice and TIG weld the heritage wings on the bonnet curve to get a good fit on a mk2 mini and that`s why new old stock panels are big bucks.

OK, that's why my new wings are a perfect fit to my MPI then. thanks

I haven't used Minisport for some time. I was let down too many times on service and quality. It would have to be something special to make me use them again.
Not sure what more you would have expected them to done on this occasion ?

Pattern wings have never fitted,
Back in the 80's using veng panels , it would take you over a day to get it to fit and minutes to weld it on.
The art of panelwork is not just fit it and forget even with heritage / genuine panels in my experience.
