Hi, 1998 MPI.

Want to preface this with I don't need the gauges, I just want them. I like the look and having some numbers to look at while driving.

After installing an oil pressure gauge I noticed that I already had an oil temperature sender in the block. I believe this is/was standard on MPIs.

My question is: where does the wiring go for that? I tried to peel back some of the sheath on the loom but didn't have much luck finding. I don't particularly want to T off the temperature sender as I did with the oil pressure sender if I can help it. One would think I could splice the original sender's wiring and add a gauge or find where the wiring goes and hopefully find a terminal I could bridge off of.

I'm kind of hoping it doesn't just go straight into the ECU.

Brown/Blue wire goes straight from the sender to the gauge.

Where does it currently go, though?

On the MPi engine loom it goes to the connector that goes into the dash loom. There will be a 6 pin plug in the dash loom that would go to the gauge loom. It will have a black and white wire for power , black and red/white for illumination and a blue/brown which is the sensor wire from the engine.

Hello,

what is the normal oil temperature on the gauge when the engine is normally hot?

My gauge say 50°C/60°C !!

I think it is cold !!

what do you read on your gauge?

Thank you,

regards,

Claude
