Hi All,
I have been reluctant to put this up for sale but I am soon to have 4 cars and he is not getting the use he deserves. He is a 1991 Mini Mayfair 998cc Automatic.
I bought this car in March 2016 as a first car for my fiance. I spent around 6 months fixing him up before she passed her test, work done is as follows:
- New front floor pans
- Half a rear floor, right hand side
- Inner sill, right hand side
- Outer sill, right hand side
- Lower part of rear quarter, right hand side
- Full flitch panel, right hand side
- New front right hand side wing
- New front Panel
- New A panels, both sides
- Repairs to left hand side flitch panel
- New carpet
- Fixed all leaks
- Rebuilt carb
- Heated inlet manifold
- Centre outlet exhaust
- chrome wing mirrors
- chrome rear view mirror
- Original Cibie spotlights - These I will probably sell separately unless i get the right price
I think thats everything! Once all this work was done I painted him with halfords rattle cans... and it is an acceptable paint job, the plan was to get him re-painted eventually but now he must go . The Cibie spotlights are original units and in pretty good shape, they are currently wired to come on with the full beam headlights.
When I got him he was leaking like a sieve, hence the rusty floor! I tracked down every leak (if that is possible with a mini) and sorted them.
The carpet is red and he has grey sheep wool style seat covers, the dashoard is black and the steering wheel etc are grey, again this was all going to be changed to black but never happened.
Mechanically, we drove him for a year with absolutely no faults, being an auto the box of course slips between 3rd and 4th gear (they all do) but once you get used to it you can control it with your foot and it won't happen; in an additional attempt to over come this slippage I changed out the oil for MA2 spec motorbike oil which is designed for wet clutches, this did make a noticeable improvement. He also has a full new set of shock absorbers (just standard ones), new engine mounts, new tie bars, new rear brake shoes and probably more I am forgetting.
He would benefit from a new rear valance at some point, but boot floor and battery box etc are in great shape, as is the scuttle panel.
The MOT ran out in October I think, again if the right price is paid I would be happy to put a fresh MOT on him, current mileage is 55k
The car is currently in storage on the isle of wight so you would be welcome to view him there, if not convenient and you give me a couple of days notice I would be able to get him over the solent to Romsey for a viewing.
I have tried to remember everything and be as honest as possible, if you have any questions feel free to PM me or call on 07769273125.
Pictures to follow. Price is currently £3000 ono. Not sure how reasonable this is but its a starting point, dont be afraid to make an offer.
Thanks
Will
