The charm of wheeler dealers is that it was quintessentially English and that’s now clearly gone for ever.

That went ages ago, they started Americanising the show several years ago.

First by buying American cars and bringing them over here, then by moving the entire operation state-side.

I like the new series and I like Ant's presenting style, I think Ed & Mike lost their chemistry (I don't think Ed liked Mike in the end), but it seems Ant is able to do his own thing which is good.

At least they made the effort of doing half the cars here and half in the US until last season.

I also like the fact Ant does his own thing, telling Mike rather than being told

I did enjoy it and I liked ant as I have in other shows, I was also sceptical about the 3 spoiler tail as it wasnt done on the Sierra but it didnt look bad once done.
Over all, wheeler dealers has changed but I still enjoy the show and will keep watching.
Oh but its not a patch on the grand tour which I am really enjoying.

I must admit, I'm finding the Grand Tour as dull as dish water. All the boring, self indulgent rubbish they were doing near the end of their time at top gear has reappeared under a different title. The Subaru part of this weeks episode was appalling.

I did find this weeks show not as good as the previous, West should I be watching at the moment?

Always liked Edd, his reason for quitting the show seemed genuine enough at the time with in his words the production house allowing less and less time to do/show hardcore spannering. This leading to cars below Edd’s standards.

However.....

To me this doesn’t show in the new series, there’s at least as much spannering going on and Ant is doing a great job imo. So the question rises, did the production house change strategy to fend off any negative sentiment amongst the viewing audience resulting from Edd’s departure.....or are there perhaps other reasons behind Edd leaving the show?

I think youre right, some thing doesn't ring true from what edd said at his departure. If anything the technical bits are a lot slicker and mikes involvement is less.

But that may be as a result of Edd's 'feedback'.

Personally I think there is more stuff that just seems to happen - take the Escort, originally there would've been some airtime given to its respray, but as it was it was just magically 'done'.

Yea but they've shown respray stuff loads, so probably decided to concentrate more on the custom spoiler build as it was something new

The production company changed last season, so maybe there were discussions of where to take the program and Ed didn't like them.

Perhaps his departure and viewer feedback made them change plans for this series.

there are only a handful of people who know what went on. I like Ed  spoke to him at L2B and I also like Ant. Watched the new show Goblin Works Garage last night. Awful is an understatement. I hope it improves but wont hold my breath

Yeah,it kind of set the tone when he peed on the windscreen to clean it.Got a feeling they'll just ruin half a dozen classics.

Watched the first episode last night and I have to say it was truly awful. Self indulgent beardy hipster nonsense trying to be a british fast&loud. Spoilt a perfectly decent escort. Really...avoid at all costs, its shambolic!
