chisel the heads off.

then re drill holes and fit new. you may need to offset the holes as the Scrivits are hardened IIRC.

Cut a slit in them and turn them out like a screw (cant remember which way they turn though)

Hi does anyone know how to remove the engine number rivets please

Not sure if the head is off, which makes it much easier.

They are hard and can rust in.

1)   Always cut a slot in the top first...either hacksaw (just blade in hand if head is on) or slitting disc in angle grinder so you can use a screw driver in the top....tap with a hammer first ...a bit of shock treatment....Anti-clockwise...Sometimes they come out

If not you will have to sacrifice the number plate

2)   Then try with a good flat screwdriver or two tapped underneath, turning the top at the same time

If not;

3)   Sometimes a good pair of small mole grips (tight as possible) can shift them, move small amounts back and forth, but again first to let the mole grips grip the bottom edge, ant still turn the top slot same time.

If not;

4)   Use the gas bottles on the block where the rivets are and don't get the flame on the rivets, concentrate on the area underneath, then freeze spray on the rivets then its the mole grips again...still no luck...re-heat, re-freeze, try again then should be bingo....

The image shows an easy one nice oily 50 year old S block
