A chap at work is into his Volkswagens and bought an rusty old VW Key from Ebay that he wanted made into a ring. I said I would give it a go for him, provided that if it broke or I messed it up he wouldn't mind. It was raining here today so I sat in the shed and gave it a go.

It is a shame that British Leyland or Austin etc didn't do something similar with their keys, as we could have them for us on here.

If anyone is interested this is how I did it.

I measured my finger thinking that would be a good start point and it could be adjusted slightly for his hand.

I found a suitable sized old socket and clamped the key to it using the pointed nose mole grips (making sure it was nice and straight on the socket). I then heated the key to cherry red and started tapping it around the socket. Then once cool enough to handle moved the grips around the socket a bit and repeated the process, it took a few goes to get it a decent fit around the socket. I am quite pleased with the way it has come out and I hope the chap at work likes it.
