Hi everyone,

My Mum had one, my Dad had two and my Brother had one. Now its my turn!

Posted a few things on the forum but thought it was about time I posted about my Mini. I first decided on the idea when I met up with my mate who had a Mini Neon with a crazy exhaust. After seeing it on the road I fancied some Mini action, so the search was on to find a mint rust free example. I really love the way the Cooper Sport looks. However after searching, I realised that I'd have to increase my budget to find the right car.

After looking at a few scabby ones, I came across this one.

I bought it from Cambridge Mini Works back in July with 44,000 miles on the clock. Very tidy car with next to no rust at all which is what I like. The plan is to only use the car during the show season, so I wanted it looking good.

After I'd collected the car, I started by cleaning underneath and rustproofing everywhere. I was lucky as the previous owner had it rustproofed every year. I then began on the paintwork, by using a DA polisher to reduce any swirl marks, before sealing it with a coat of Carnauba wax. I absolutely love driving it. No car I have driven comes close to the mechanical driving feel that you get with this car. I have a Youtube channel about the car and my daily car, a Suzuki Swift Sport (link here: https://www.youtube....r/Daniel6345100)

If you've got this far well done!

The car is now in storage for the winter to keep the miles down and to keep it away from the salty roads!

More updates to come.

Thanks for looking.

my dream, unfortunately I lack the courage to come from France to buy one and bring it back to mine ... a day can be ...

I know that in general we do not often talk about money, but to have an order of idea ... how much does it count for such a beautiful copy?

I no longer believe in Santa Claus at my age, but you never know I will put it on my list ... or on that of my children ...

Lovely car you've certainly done a good job detailing it. One suggestion I would make is to become a TMF+ member, it only cost £5 and entitles you to various discounts at our supported suppliers including 7.5% at Minispares. More importantly, it also supports the forum as well. :xmas:

Thanks for all the kind comments. I have just become a TMF+ member!

*****UPDATE*****

A few jobs done on the mini this weekend.

While the car isn't being used through the winter, I thought it would be the ideal opportunity to spruce up the engine bay and add some colour.

I degreased everything dried it all and added 4 coats of engine lacquer.

The pictures certainly don't do it justice.

More updates to come as I next tackle the sills and arches, as I plan to paint them red also.

Thanks for looking.

*****UPDATE*****

Long overdue but anyway. Once the car had come out of hibernation, it went into my local specialist P&L Minis. I would highly recommend these guys, they did a great job fitting a new subframe and carrying out a service. The car then went back for its MOT which it passed. Its now ready for the show season. I've already had many drives out in it already. I will never get bored of the driving experience. You can't help but have a massive smile of your face when your driving it.

I recently fitted some little bits in the engine bay to keep it looking original.

I'm doing L2B and can't wait as it will be my first ever time doing it.

I have a Youtube Channel about my adventures with the car: https://www.youtube....r/Daniel6345100

Hopefully I will remember to update more frequently!

Thanks for looking,

Dan

That’s odd as I’ve seen one that’s got delivery miles on it that has all these bits.

My '98 has the black coolant label from the factory (I bought the car in 2002)

On your car the wiring thats going over the servo should be going under it... Its not under too much tension now?

Just had a look at the brochures, I'm not disputing it having one, it's more of the style.
