What should happen to that used oil filter when it comes off your car. (USA)

On an individual basis, we take ours back to the auto parts store along with our used oil, and they send them off to be recycled - do not throw them in the trash!

take mine the tip they have a big oil tank and a bin for filter just chuck em in for free

Interesting  subject this in my last job before retiring,  ie Workshop Manager for a

large privately owned Construction Company, I was responsible for arranging for

disposal of, old oil and oil filters, and the keeping up to date the necessary paper work

and the audits that went with them, the penalties for not keeping the proper records for

SEPA were quite scary if I remember properly £3000. fine and 6 months jail, and the

company were not allowed to pay the fine .
