Only just caught this project. What a great car! Hope you're keeping as much of the patina as possible - it's so honest and original. How will you tackle the roof if you want to keep the original paint? Will someone have to work their magic with an artificial patina on the roof once fitted?

Good question, possibly matt or satin black on the roof once its on, he will possiply bond the skin on and plug weld afterwards depending on heat penetration and damage to the paint we'll decide then.....My main objective is suspension and brakes and then we'll decide on the body work, thanks for your reply :-)

Just a note to check what the bonding material you use is, I used some polyurethane sealant to bond on some door skins and then welded along the edges to get the gaps and all four doors are rusting through the skins already.  This happened to me in a similar circumstance a couple of years back on another car so i'm now not putting any sealant anywhere near any welding.

When you pull a wheel off a 48 plus year old car expecting the worst and all kinds of nastiness to be lurking but to your surprise you find this kind of beautiful cleanliness

Would have been rude not to try one of the Carmona’s on it...

Question :

Would it be blasphemous to put a carbon roof on this and build around the bodywork as it is, kind of cafe racer but renewing suspension components with dry, camber, cooper brakes etc and convert it to rhd or is it too rare to mess with , good weather coming and some more money from work, I’ve bought a lot of components including a front subframe and waiting for someone to come back to me about a rear

Opinions please

Loving this! Sorry if I've asked before, have you got centre caps for the Carmona's? Got the same wheels, but don't have any caps. Beginning to think they look o.k without.

Hmm, I'm no purist by any stretch but I think that your car just looks so honest that it deserves a steel roof, and get it as close to the original paint as possible - or possibly do it old English White? I think the grigio colour suits a white roof rather than black. But ultimately, do what makes you happy!
