Hi guys, I've recently finished my project and got my mini on the road. However I've noticed a slight fault in the wiring for my fuel tank, as the system works at half efficiency, meaning when the tank is full it's registering as half and when half it's registering a 1/4. I found it a very odd issue and while it isn't really end of the world, exploding car situation it's rather annoying having to guess where abouts my fuel status is. Wondering if anyone has experienced this before and any pointers on over coming it.

I would suspect the stabiliser unit. It's a little box half the size of a small matchbox attached to the back of the speedo right behind the fuel gauge. Try bypassing it to see if you get full reading.

Thank you. Just wondering. I have a triple gauge dash with printed circuit on the back. Does this still apply?

Sorry, not familiar with the newer stuff, but if it has a stabiliser, the same principles are involved. Another test you could do is to ground the wire from the tank sender which simulates a full tank.

Try bridging it out at the tank as hhhh says, if it reads full there then it could be the sender unit in the tank, the float may have become porous and filled with fuel making it sink or the arm might just need bending to sit in the right place when full.
