Yup mine bogs down on 20w50 and 3in1 but 10w40 is spot on amazing the difference it makes really.

Yeah, you need to experiment, I had a 1380 clubman estate with twin hs2's in the early 90's, it had never been set up correctly but I had to use ep 140 in it's dashpots to stop it flatspotting as you opened the throttle.

This is probably a good time to remind everybody that gear oils use a different scale than engine oils for viscosity. 80W90 is actually around the same viscosity as 45 or 50 weight engine oil. The reason is to prevent people from putting gear oil in their engines. The burning sulphur would be ugly.

Topped mine up with 20w50 and it's bogging down when cold. Will try some 10w40 - but will I need to drain the old oil out or just add in the new stuff and let it mix?
