I have decided to swap my standart drums to the spacered versions. Most people hate spacers but the integratet spacers are standart in some S modells or later models, so it should be not that bad.

It is a litte bit a experiment, because i never saw a mini running the wide drums in front, most people switch directly to the discbrakes. the price of 12£ for a drum is unbeatable.

My mini had these all around...

Now i have installed the 1" wider Brakes on the rear and the front. And yes you need new longer studs.

Here a side with no spacers

And here with spacers

The rear is an easy job and takes max 2 hours. The front is much more work because it is not so easy to change the studs. i also took the chance to switch from the old ball-bearings to tappered Roller bearing.

Next thing is to adjust the suspension and costumize the arches. my plan is to run more camber to get the rubber under the arches.

I'm running spaced drums all round on my 1275 E as well. It was a necessary fitment as the rear tyres were rubbing against the shock dust covers. It is nice that it adds a little poke to how the wheel sits. Have you considered getting discs for the front?

Nice im not the only one.

converting to discs is not allowed in switzerland. otherwise you need a lot of certificates.

The good thing with drums is they do not cover your wheels in dust, and they are cheap in service.

Ah, that's unfortunate regarding the disc brakes. Still, at least the spaced drums will work well :)
