I have a 1275 a series engine and gearbox for a mini, in good condition. I don't fully know the history of this engine as I got it as a spare engine with my turbocharged mini. That said, the engine turns over perfectly and the bores look nice and clean with very little wear. I personally would rebuild any used engine before putting it in a car just for peace of mind but that said, it does look like it could go again without massive amounts of work.
The engine number comes up as an MG Metro turbo but the cylinder head is a pre a plus one so I suspect the block is from a metro turbo but the rest isn't. The flywheel is pre verto, the clutch cover has been drilled (I could provide an unmodified one if you prefer) and the gearbox has a 3.44 to 1 diff. The pistons are AE 21250 types which are pretty tough, and would be a good basis for a fast road build. They give 9.4:1 compression ratio, the same as a metro turbo. The engine is complete, apart from a carb and distributor. Everything else will come with the engine.
Overall I think this is an excellent starting point for someone wanting a good 1275 and far better than most of the knackered stuff that people sell these days. I have got this listed on ebay at the minute for £650 but would take £550 cash as the fees after listing and paypal are nearly £100. Collection from Crewe Cheshire, but I might be able to deliver.
