Hi ive got a 95 rover spi here and i have converted it to a centre dash. The clocks are from a 1978 mini. The speedometer works fine and the mechanical oil pressure works perfectly aswell.

My only problems are that the fuel gauge and water temperature are not reading correctly. My initial thoughts are they do not know how to read the data coming from the ECU. (The fuel and water senders go to the ecu then the dash (I think)).

The fuel gauge constantly reads half and the tenperature reads max.

There is a voltage stabiliser thing on the back of the speedo which the gauges are wired through. (Voltage thing looks a bit like a bath tub) This came with the speedo.

Anybody got any idea how I can fix my fuel and water temp gauge?

Your probably right, at this point id be happy to order an aftermarket gauge that comes with a sender.. the only problem with that is the ecu in my car needs data from the sender or else it wont run properly.

Hello,

i guess you 've changed some wires. You will find diagramms here: http://www.theminifo...agrams-redrawn/

by the way: Fuel sender has no connection to ecu.

Just to confirm your theory have you tried back to back tests running the car with the fuel gauge connected and then disconnected at the tank end?
