Hi,

Yes wrong starter in that case. You need an inertia starter motor, rather than the pre-engaged one you have now.

Cheers  :proud:

I talked to Andrew who built the engine he said the flywheel is compatible with the pre engaged starter. So can anyone show me how the wiring changes from the solenoid in the engine bay to the one on the top of the starter motor. I presume I just extend all the wires from their current position to the top of the motor including the really thick main battery wire? Anyone have a diagram or picture to help out.

So just finalising the wiring of the ignition
I'd use a standard coil and ignore the pink wire.

White - coil positive

White/black - coil negative and distributor

Green/blue - temperature sender

White/brown - oil pressure switch

Big plug - alternator

I had two black and white wires on I've connected to the distributor one to the negative side of the coil
The others all make sense. But what are the yellow and pink wires for?? Should I just take them up???

Hi,

If they're on the coil and white with a black stripe then one goes to the dizzy and the other to the rev counter.

Cheers  :proud:

White/pink is the resistive wire

White/ yellow is the 12 volt feed to the coil for cranking only
