I have about 12 thou end float on the primary gear, maybe more. Just wondering to what extent this might be accounted for by the wear on the C ring. How much slack can I expect to be taken up with a new washer and backing ring? Many thanks.

to give an idea measure the endfloat with the C washer both ways around the lesser number will be closer to the new parts.

Measure the step in the C Clip.

The C Clips these days seem soft and every one I've pulled off in the past 5 - 6 years looks that that.

Thanks both, I ought to have mentioned that the pics show either side of the washer. Pretty worn on both faces.
