Can anyone help with info re: the heater below please?

My son and I took it out of a rotten 1973 shell and are planning to fit it into his 1979 restoration project.

My issue is with regards to controls or rather the apparent lack of controls. This heater doesnt appear to have the lever on it to adjust airflow between the cabin and the screen - it seems to have a ball-type vent instead.

Looking at various websites and catalogues we have failed to find such a heater.

Can anyone confirm if this actually is a Mini heater and whether theres any way the airflow could be managed? Is it just a case that closing the ball-type vent results in more air going out of the ducts to the screen?

This is our first Mini restoration and were learning as we go!

Thanks in anticipation.

It's a mini heater thats been modified. Like you say the ball vent can be closed to stop the hot air coming out and more air will go to the screen. You just need a switch for the fan.

It's quite good actually, would be better if it had 2 ball vents instead of one though.

That’s great, thanks Alex.

Just thinking of the fan switch needed would you know if it would be a two speed fan or single speed (assuming the heater is from ‘73 too)?

It'll be a single speed fan, it was only the MPI's that come as twin speed as standard but they are pretty much the same just with a resistor fitted.

You can make it twin speed easily as I did here http://www.theminifo...rebuild/page-39
