Does anyone know of anyone who still makes up show plates, apart for at the shows? Even if its someone on Facebook who bothers to reply.

I can quite easily get acrylic show plates made up on line, but the ones I’m after are the pressed alloy white/yellow ones (and even then I want to change the colour of 2 of the digits). And all the ones I’ve been looking at on eBay want a copy of the v5 etc. and won’t make them up as show plates.

And yes I know show plates aren’t legal, I just want them for shows and taking pictures.

Your could try http://www.classicpl...SAAEgKII_D_BwE, they do the pressed yellow / white plates.

Not sure about if they could change colour of the letters, i suspect not.   Could you carefully mask up and spray paint??

Though a couple of years ago, I managed to find an ebay vendor that would make up pressed metal plates without documents for use off-road. I bought two different sets from two different vendors and didn't need docs in either case.

I would persevere with some of the ebay vendors and ask the question.  Maybe choose the ones that don't specifically state V5 required in their ad.

e.g. https://www.ebay.co....xMAAOSwY~1aOAyP

I've got pressed metal plates on my golf and BMW e36, both sets were bought on ebay with no need to show v5. Both are also road legal with correct font and makers marks as well.

They will do them. Expect a phone call from them yo make sure you know the law. They'll even alter spacing for show plates

wish I'd known about them when I wanted white plastic letters on black alloy plates for my G prefix retro mini. Although in their FAQs it says they contact you for documents? I ended up using trailer numberplates with digits bought seperately

Yep, that's where I got mine....The numbers are my actual Kansas reg numbers, it even says Ks on the left margin. I've been running them for 2 years now with no issues....but then, I'm in Kansas!

The rules for the Isle of Man are different: https://www.gov.im/c...ates/#accordion

I wouldn't mind a set of pressed ally plates, my '77 clearly qualifies over here but I've had problems with people wanting copies of V5s etc.  Perhaps I need to look in the seedier corners of eBay!

Classicplatesonline are totally legit. You have to fib to them about your requirements

I used Framptons http://www.framptonsplates.com for the black n' silver plates on mine.

No problem getting them to the Isle of Man plus the quality was excellent!  I was really happy with them!
