Afternoon all,

Had a quick search but can't find any mention of recommendations for speakers that fit discreetly under the rear parcel shelf grilles. My car is an MPi. Does anyone have any suggestions? Not worried about anything too fancy, just the standard ones are knackered.

Cheers,

Rich.

Do you have a picture of what the rear grills look like?

You will be hard pressed to find any speakers that will fit into the original grilles if they are like mine where they are all one unit and wont seperate.

I ended up using the grilles supplied with the new speakers I fitted, they are fitted into some of those plastic shelf adapters that are supposed to go into doors, but they work quite well. They dont have much bass response though.... so sound a bit flat...

The grilles will prize off without damaging them. My speakers were knackered and I just happened to find a pair of old Pioneer ones that did the job. They fitted the grilles perfectly but mounting holes were slightly different. but with a bit of fiddling they went in. This is on a '91 Cooper so same set up as yours

Thanks guys. Yeah, I have the grilles removed, so they do come off without damaging anything, but it's just a force fit/platic clip so finding something that fits it perfectly is unlikely.

I've found a few speaker sets which are the same size with very similar plain looking grilles (JBL being the one that looks most original) so I'll probably go with those, and just drill the rear shelf if the mountings are slightly different.
