Hi all, was a member of this forum years ago when i had originally bought my mini as a first car in 2009, since then i moved onto newer cars (c2 vts, fiesta st150, current mk4 ibiza cupra 1.8t) and the mini stayed in the garage in a very sorry state, finally decided to rebuild it to the best of ability with our limited space and money, running a 250 bhp ibiza as a daily and going to america in august so money is rather tight currently anyway heres some pics

went on a trip with the local mini club to whitby

 

 

 

on the way back had dreaded running on 3 cylinder so basically stuck it in the garage and went and bought a new car

 

its current condition 

 

 

found out that the head was cracked pouring coolant into one of the cylinders, pressure tested the head and its just a heavy paper weight 

 

 

so stripped the engine out

 

 

started stripping the engine and doing some sanding

 

 

 

 

so next is to source a 1275 head and rebuild the engine with a few little performance extras, thanks for reading :)

Thank you for the kind words, the whole resto thing is quite new to me but thankfully iv been blessed to have a dad who is a mechanic since he was 15 now 60 so i break things he fixes them

na you will be ok once your stuck into it, your dads help along the way will defo help... whats your plans for it when its done? you changing the look in anyway or back to how it is?

got a pair of metro turbo vented 4 pots but had to mix and match 2 callipers into 1 so bleed nipples on the opposite side so will need to remove put some wood in between pads and bleed it that way but will be fully referbing them, hopefully half cage, lightly tuned rebuilt engine, buckets with harnesses, most likely be all black everything with a few red engine/brake parts, have the ibiza to go fast so just want this to be fun and relatively reliable, least thats the plan
