Can someone help me? I have just bought a mini which has just had to have the gear box out and rebuilt. Before the gearbox was repaired the speedo was reading 20 miles under up to 50mph and 5mph under after that. The speedo cable is new and the drive which was done with the gearbox. Can anyone help me with this as the dealer is now not even sure what it could be

sounds like old age on the speedo head. as every thing upto the head unit is direct drive so could not give a variable reading.

Speedo guts are not something most people play with,  try Caerbont they just did a Speedwell rev counter for me, top job.
