Hi all,

I'm currently trying to source a pair of drive shafts for my '72 Mini 1000 (with front 7.5"' discs). My question is - are bare pot joint drive shafts interchangeable for rubber coupling types in terms of length and teeth on the splines? As in, can I get used bare later drive shafts and retrofit the rubber coupling kit and flange on the inner end and the correct CV joint for 7.5" discs on the outer?

Hope that makes sense... :ohno:

Sam

Short answer is yes.

It's only the very early 850 Mini that has a different and non-interchangeable shaft, though I doubt there'd be many of these about anymore. If I recall, these were 18 spline and all other Minis since are 19.

But for all intents, all drive shafts fit all (outboard) CVs.

Sam,

Do you currently have pot joints at gearbox, and lookng to change to rubber coupling?

The CV end of driveshaft is the same, but gearbox end is different for pot joints and rubber couplings.

Thanks for that, that's good news. Should make my hunt a little easier.

I currently have a remote gearbox with the appropriate output shafts in the diff. The things I'm wanting to source are the drive shafts and couplings. I just wanted to make sure I didnt buy the wrong drive shafts!

then you need the correct ones for the couplings you choose.
