Maybe a strange request.
I'm wondering if anyone has a mk1 rear number holder fitted and wondered if they'd be kind enough to measure the distance as shown in pic so I can locate mine in the correct place before drilling

It's the distance between the TOP of the number plate and the boot lid top swage line that is important. I suspect that swage is the same on both styles of boot lid anyway, but 1/2" difference at the bottom of the plate on a MK3 boot lid will not notice, but at the top of the plate 1/2" will stand out like a sore thumb.

I would bolt the plate in relative to the top swage line.
