I am about to adapt an 84-on wiring loom to fit in my 68 Hornet- temporary measure until I build a custom loom next year. The trouble is, the wiring in the car at present is an absolute mess, and I dont actually know that much about Hornets! Could someone with a bit of knowledge tell me which switch does what in the picture below please? Provided that theyre standard at least!

Hi, if it the same as my MK2 Mini the switches do the following. Steering stalk - indicators and headlight flash when pulled back and horn when pushed in. Switches either side of the ignition switch - one is headlights and side lights (the 2 position one) the other is single speed windscreen wipers with self park. The other switches have been added for accessories. I would think you are better getting the correct loom from the start or carefully repairing yours using either a wiring diagram on here or in the Haynes Manual. There are so many differences in the later type looms that I think you would be making more work for yourself. all the connectors would be different and the later loom would have 2 steering wheel stalks 2 speed wipers, alternator rather than dynamo etc.

Lovely, thanks- I have downloaded a wiring diagram from here for it, but the loom in the car is a homemade horror using all blue or green/yellow wiring. I have a 1293 A-plus to go in, so have bought a loom to suit that- itll be easier to adapt the interior wiring to suit the different switches. Its only for a year- then Ill build a proper one. Great help! 👍🏼
