Just a quickie, 93 verto, clutch pack and flywheel aligned by placing on splines, ready to refit. C shaped thrust washer, as long as it's in there I've no need to align it with anything have I?

well the C washer should be fitted so the open end is down when the engine is at TDC on number one cylinder to allow you to follow the latest info on how to remove the flywheel.

if you remove the flywheel the old fashioned way with the key way horizontal then there is no way the C washer could fall so it does not matter.

i typically learned from here to fit the c washer back so the slot is facing horizontally , this way it will never fall down the next time you take it off , as when you set numer 1 piston at TDC it is possible to get it mixed up with tdc on exhaust and compression , if its on exhaust then the c washer will drop down and you will be in a world of trouble. Best way to be certain of TDC on compression stroke is to remove rocker cover and see which vlaves are opening.

If I have made a mistake in my explanation please someone correct me.

the fitting has no real effect as there are only two places that it can be fitted the factory way and the other way horizontal only is important when removing the flywheel. the open end will either be pointing up or down at number one at TDC those are the only options as that is how the slot is machined. it is knowing how to deal with a flywheel that may have been on and off many times over the years with people of varying ability doing it which is why the slot should be horizontal when removing the flywheel.
