Looks like they put it in for test before finishing the car, I'll bet time was against them regarding the filming across schedule.

Hi all
I caught this programme last night as I watch all the various car programs of this type and was amazed at how nobody pointed out the validity of it being a Cooper S variant. In fact it wasn't even up to standard Cooper speck.
The engine looked to me as though it was a Goldseal factory recon job, single carb. although the shell could have been an S as it did appear to have twin tanks (so long as the second one wasn't a stuck on dummy one) and we did not see any of the suspension or brakes.
As previously stated by other members it was never referred to as a Cooper S in the voice over or by any of the other participants of the show other than the 2 presenters.but I would have thought for legal reasons Quest would have made it clear to the viewers that it was in fact not a Cooper S.
I had hoped that this programme would have gone some way fill the gap that WD left since it's new format but alas it's at the bottom of my list now.
Just as a side bar to my comments a bit of background info. Before moving on to classic fast Fords, I now own a 3dr Cosworth 330BHP etc, I had in the past a tweaked 850cc Mini followed by a 1071cc Cooper S and I have had the pleasure of driving Pat Moss's works Cooper S.

I'am looking forward to reading all the comments on the programme from the rest of you guys
Happy mining

Wasn't even a cooper, just a replica (1000). Someone on Facebook did an mot check on it. A right long list of failures on the failure sheet!

Has anyone here since purchased the car?

Fwiw I did like it, I just wouldn't pay the £7k premium for the vin plate plus whatever huddersfield wanted on top.

Huddersfield still have it and will be taking it to shows.

so they say.

Its apparently on the Huddersfield stand at Bingley, although I did think about

going to have a look in their place, in my local area but never been in or used them.

Well its registered as a Morris Mini 1000, still shown as beige, doesn't even have spacered rear drums (I've watched it again),so if I buy & fit the badges my car could be a Cooper S, even though its a 93 non Cooper model, all I'd need is a 1969 V5 ! I won't be doing that as its illegal.

See https://cartaxcheck....1631.1516909691 for the V5 info & MOT history.

I saw the episode last night. 11k for that ugly reshelled mini, with the wrong interior, etc. No way, lol!

There's no way in the world that car changed hands for £11k. Theatrical licence is it not?
Mk4 'shell, Mk2 logbook, dual line brakes, the thing should be on a Q-plate! Still, as long as it's shiny, right?!
It's a £4k car with its correct late 70s/ early 80s I.D. in my opinion..

Grates on me now. I used to enjoy his programme but I now think he's starting to believe his own hype.

It's a Mk2 Morris (standard not Cooper) 1000 logbook attached to a Mk4 shell, I can't understand why any Mini 'specialist' would have potentially damaged their reputation by getting involved with it

These shows are all a big load of bull when it comes to money, it wouldn't work if they said, we bought it for 5K, spent 7k on it and sold it for 4 which is probably what happened.  Still 8K cost for an hours TV is probably a bargain!

What annoys me is that the tv people will say anyone that knocks it is just an anorak etc but it's not like we are picking on something like which way the brake lines are clipped, it's a fecking 80s mini bodged onto a 60s logbook! Why not just do a 80s mini up and sell it for what it is, I'm all for the retro resto and I did like the car overall.

Looked at this today at bingley and to be honest it looked pretty nice from 10 foot away but close up for a complete restoration it looked abit rushed ( gaps here and there and just abit slapped togethor) not worth the money imo.
