Looks to be a mini of around 1984?

I would have said 80 to 84, as After 84 there were a few differences, like the master cylinder, disk brakes, spacered rear drums,12" wheels etc... Assuming that that is running drums up front for the 10" wheels... And the engine was the latter yellow (not gold), might have been A+, but didn't look hard enough.

Although they didn't hide the fact it had been 're shelled', then bang on about originality....

Anyone catch last nights episode with the jag and the merc? I enjoyed the small craftsmen workshops and watching them ply their trade but the jag ends up a right dogs dinner.

The bonnet straps on the Jag just didn't work for me. Did not look right at all, better off without them.

Yep I saw that. They were in a different position at the end and with no screws holding them in. May be they wanted to give the buyer the option or just bottled drilling holes in the nicely louvered bonnet

Three episodes in and I'm yet to be convinced anything is as it seems.

Doesn't look to be on next week either, not much of a new series with 3 episodes.

Shame if thats it - with all its faults ~I still think it is one of the better of whats on offer for car buffs

  • Car SOS - Half hours telly spread over an hour with silly set pieces - the "steal", and Tim's unconvincing and embarrassing  barter sketches
  •
  • For the Love of Cars - both blokes you would like as mates - too  light on tech and restoration
  •
  • The Classic Car show - Jodi Kidd (woof woof !!`) and Quentin Wilson... Lovely cars , exclusive,  and everything I don't like about Goodwood Snobbery. Very creepy on sofa chemistry between them...
  •
  • Wheeler Dealers - new and old - its all been said here before
  •
  • Goblin Garage - No !
  •
  • Top Gear - No, No and Thrice No
  •
  • Chasing cars and all the American stuff.... with such a fantastic story to tell why can't americans produce better for the classic car enthusiast - surely the muscle cars and 50's to 70's cars deserve better coverage..

Have I missed anything ??

Please do feel free to add to or disagree with my list

All that said, I would rather watch any of the above over gardening/ property and relocation programmes which I am sure if you went on builders/estate agents and property developer chat site would be slagged off too.

Some of the American shows are actually alright. I love Fantomworks for example. A terrible name but Bitchin rides is not bad either.

To be fair I can't say I have seen many of them or stayed with one long enough to let its style grow on me..

I used to be really into the 60's yank "muscle"  cars in the early 80's  and taking them to RWYB at santa pod  with my uncle - 1967 350 SS Camaro to be precise and a 1965 notchback mustang but when they were affordable ...

...so  I'm probably put off by the american shows that remind me of cars I should have kept and not sold for buttons.

Roadkill , Hot Rod Garage & Engine Masters on Motor trends channel on Youtube.

Puts these to shame, proper 'car' people.

Chasing Classic Cars is about the best car show on TV imho.

Everything else is cheesily done to appeal to a wide audience of non petrol heads.

Just watched that Salvage Hunters episode, a tidy retro specced Mini, dubious interior. Around the £5k mark it would be alright but £11k and a Cooper it aint!  O_O
