Hi

I caught the tail end of a spin off from Salvage Hunters (Drew Pritchard)  by pure chance last week ...which sees him now buying / getting "restored"  / and selling classic cars.

i am a fan of his Salvage Hunter series which focussed on furniture/architectural salvage and now on Quest he's started on his other passion cars.

First episode was a lotus Elan 2+2 and a Mk1  Golf GTI -

Not much to set it apart from other offerings yet... except I find him  a likeable and knowledgeable character ....

This week (wednesday night) he searches and "restores" then sells amongst others a  Cooper S.

Should be worth a watch - if for nowt else than  for the OCD element in us all  to get angry when he gets something wrong...

Quest Channel - Wednesday evening... enjoy !

Oh yes -

I liked it too - the mini is this week... not sure if its a cooper though- will be interesting to see. He's a likeable and knowledgeable presenter - .

The poor copies of american shows are hard to watch,  I saw a few mins of goblin garage and don't think I will be back -

Car SOS is "ok" were it not for the silly set up pieces.

Still mourning the loss of ed china on Wheeler Dealers -  but having seen the new format I can't see why he left - Ant Anstead got plenty of screen time to natter about the tech side of things on a cosworth escort ...

Anyhow - I will be tuning in  - at least its not Property/DIY related...

All the best

Matt

It looks on the whole to be accepted that its had a good start matt although with a little confusion as to why pritchard is even there. Personally I think its looking to fill the wheeler dealers gap with a more low key enthusiast approach which is no bad thing as WD has gone all yeehaw and get you some 'o that these days.

I still think Car SOS is the best programme as I like what fuzz does and he's honest about approach, cost and timescales if you read his column in classic car weekly. Tim Shaw shennanigins is just a bit of filler for the non car person sat on the sofa with you!!.

More british based car programmes is a good thing......unless its that stunningly awful goblin works thing that is....... :ohno:

He's very into classic car/motorbike  scene - and you can see him in the background at the auction bidding episodes of For the Love of Cars.

Its apparently his cash that buys all the cars  -  and I recon he can easily afford it .....what with a "stall" for secondhand stuff at Liberty store W1 as well as his main business and other TV series.

I like his style of presenting -  and like us all - he loves old stuff inc cars..

Agree - didn't like the Goblin Garage either ...... - I like a well turned ankle as much as the next man .....but its a bit insulting to what little intelligence I have to include some token "crumpet for the lads " on the show. That said - I will probably give it another try if nothing else is on.

Best

Matt

I quite enjoyed the Goblinworks programme - the MGB concept was good - thought some of the bodywork was a bit suspect though. Can't warm to Drew although his taste in vintage can't be faulted.

Watched the 1st episode of Goblin thought it was garbage, who in their right mind joy rides a straight rust free shell and stuffs it then urinates on the windscreen to clean it. Don't think you you'd last 5 mins in a proper 'shop. Back on thread I liked the 1st episode of the salvage hunter spin off easy on the eye.

I'd want a genuine mk2 for that money or a really nice late Cooper instead.

Enjoyed the programme loved the Porsche -  the mini looked a bit of a mongrel.

Switchgear/ column /rod change interior not cooper and looked later than a G reg despite the badgeand reg no , single carb, no cover on dash rails.

"tactfully" there was no mention of it being a cooper s and i am sure that any reference to it being so - or not -  when presented to Mr Huddersfield Spares was edited out.

That said....I thought it  it looked very nice , though the prices for bodywork and paint looked cheap to me...

Considering ts a TV show for more general consumption (than us geeks who contribute to owners forums and 7am ! and would happily watch hours of video of an a series engine rebuild) .... I still think its one of the better ones of whats available.

They did mention at one point that it had been re shelled however didn't elaborate.

Other than the number plate and maybe the bonnet and boot badges I didn't see anything which was 'G' plate.

Anybody else notice that it was actually incomplete when 'finished'? no interior light cover/lens, no rear number plate lamp, wiring hanging where it should be clipped to the drivers side inner wing and looked like the wiring covered in over spray are just what I spotted before I switched off
