If it was built or rebuilt in 02 and the DVLA gave it a historic reg Id imagine theyll struggle to defend them selfs.

The AC Cobra is one of the most documented cars out there, the chassis numbers of all cars are known and are in fact in one big factory book! If he got ripped off it's because he didn't do his due diligence. Or he trusted someone else to do it for him?

It's also a bit funny that you can spend that amount of money on a car and then not be able to pay the tax to get it on the road!

More than likely a kit car built in 02, but registered with a dodgy 64 log book. Probably to save having to go through testing, tax etc. and make it more desirable. Its a good job this sort of thing doesn't go on within the mini community....

I think Mr. Seddon has an impossible argument with the DVLA, unless the car is in fact the real deal and incorrectly re-classified by the DVLA.
As the purchaser, it would have been up to Mr. Seddon to carry out his own due diligence on his potential purchase. I can't see how that could fall upon any Gov. agency and in any case, I doubt it's their role.
He'd have better chances, though well far from certain, taking on the who ever it was he bought it from.
