If the car is for sale you presumably know what the mileage reading  was when it was parked up so should be easy to check if it has been used since then? At least you will know if it was your car or another on false plates.

I spoke to them today & told them the full story. Theyve put me onto the fraud department. Ive emailed them pictures of the car on the forecourt etc. Since then Ive also found proof of the mileage as found invoice at work of the car having the used car check on 12-1-18 & the mileage hasnt changed since.

Ive received a letter from the West Yorkshire police today to say they have cancelled the prosecutions. They have circulated the number plate to find the car.
But on the other hand I received 2 fines for the toll not paid on the Mersey bridge today that I now have to sort out tomorrow!😫

There are cameras on the new bridge so they would be able to identify the car.

If they continue to use it so frequently in what I can only imagine are areas with ANPR cameras, I doubt it will belong before they are stopped

Same thing happened to my wife. We asked for the picture of the speeding vehicle. Once we had that we found the car in question had the same plate but was a different colour, plus we live 300 miles from where the offence took place. We sent them a picture of our car and the case was closed. Id ask for more evidence through the fine procedure before calling the police.

All now sorted
Toll bridge fines have also been cancelled.
What a relief 😅
