Hi,

Having a few issues with my current door mirrors so I'm looking for a replacement set...

I really like this style of mirror: https://www.ebay.co....Sw-9RZbzvZ#rwid but does anybody have any experience of fitting them? Will they bolt into the existing holes in the door panel or will some minor fab work to the door skin be required to make them fit?

Cheers,

Marc.

very very unlikely that they would fit either of the standard Mini mirror fixings. so yes holes and rivenuts would need fitting.

I'd recommend putting spreader plates inside the door skin to support them.

Ah well, I didn't know if it was sort of a standardized spacing throughout older cars. Never mind!

My door skins are too nice at the minute to start attacking with a drill! Looks like I will be going for like for like replacements.

Thanks for the help.

Was thinking of doing something like this in stainless steel amd painting black.
So I can go from F1 to standard easily, but reinforcements behind the panel for the extra weight might be a good idea anyhow.

you will also need to recess the car side so that it sits flat and not on the rivenut heads.

True, I drew these plans 1.5 years ago (the last time I worked on MY mini) and have been updated since but I could only find these right now.
Was also supposed to have a rubber gasket or something so it doesn't leave a mark on the paint.

That’s a pretty damn good idea! Could use countersunk bolts to fasten the plate to the rivnuts/ door and then drill and tap the stainless pate to accept the bolts from the wing mirror?

Thats exactly the idea, the drawing is a bit on the sketch side of things but that's what its supposed to show... 😌
Never got round to building these as my car is miles away from me and on hold until I can find some garage space to work on it. I can always make a new drawing with details if you'd like? 😀

Really appreciate the offer mate! I think I will bite the bullet and just go for it, then make some cardboard templates of my own when they arrive. The holes on the ones I buy may be slightly different to the ones you have so I wouldn't want you wasting your time. Again though, thank for the offer!

EDIT: looking at your drawings again, I can see that you've already drawn what I said.
